This is how...

It all started when the Lord gave Izak and Ingrid Taljard a burning desire to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, especially the youth.

Both of them were involved with youth before they got married in 1989. As a schoolteacher for 10 years, Ingrid had a ministry amongst white high school scholars. Izak ministered to black youth from different communities as youth liaison officer for the Administration Board of Central Transvaal for 8 years.

Working with the youth, the endless need of all young people of different cultures became very apparent, and a burning desire to meet these needs, made it clear to Izak and Ingrid that young people needed to be trained to reach their own peers.

1995 -2000
The Lord used 33 years of experience with the youth of all cultures to start the first multi-cultural CYB training team (12 students) near Midrand in 1995. The ministry saw a live-in situation as the best opportunity for personal discipleship and intensive training. Students thus gave a year (or more) of their lives to be trained and developed into the leaders of tomorrow. Training had two strong components that made it possible for the theoretical knowledge they obtained to be implemented as they were reaching out in the local community on a weekly basis and in national and international short-term outreaches. (For more information on student training click here.)

At the end of this period, approximately 54 students have been trained to carry out the Great Commission of which 29 are still in full time ministry. In this period of time more than 130 000 people have nationally and internationally been exposed to the Gospel of which 30% made a choice for Christ.

THE RELOCATION OF THE MINSITRY
Tarry Well (the Midrand home of CYB) came up for sale and Izak and the team trusted the Lord to enable them to purchase the property, which they were leasing at that stage. The Lord had other plans and directed the ministry to the farming community of Machadodorp in the Mpumalanga province. Here on the farm WATERVAL: CYB made it's new home. (To get involved click here)

2000 - 2002
The turn of the century, brought with it the expectation of a refreshing newness for both the Taljard's and the ministry. The difference between the urban areas of Midrand and rural hills of Machadodorp, held within it, a change of approach, a change of method, a change of pace. To adapt to this newness, was a learning curve, but well worth the effort.

After moving, it took time to unpack, rearrange and reconstruct. , renewing of us as individuals, but also the ministry. In August 2000 the first Mpumalanga CYB students started with training and ministry.

A new environment prompts one to investigating the newness. Soon we met fellow brothers in our four surrounding towns: Machadodorp, Belfast, Waterval Boven and Dullstroom.

Different ministy activities took us deeper and deeper into the local communities.
